The world union could also be called a global federation, a United States of the Earth or simply a United Nations, if the nations were truly united. In a world union, all people would become true citizens of the world. This world union does not yet exist. That is unfortunate, because we urgently need it. It is also regrettable that most people today still regard this world union as an unattainable utopia. They are even afraid of the spectre of a world dictatorship by an all-powerful world government. I have described the problem in my article ‘Global empire or federal world union’.
The political unification of mankind is a basic prerequisite for a good future. But how must the world union be organised so that it works and does not become what many fear? To answer this question, there are already many serious studies and concepts that not only enumerate the current problems and failures of humanity, but also offer serious proposals for solutions. The right path to world union must be a scientifically based, democratic process involving as many countries and their citizens as possible. Without going into detail, the aim here is to show why a world union is not only desirable for mankind, but essential.
We need a world union because the nation states of the world are not in a position to stop the changes to the global climate and will not be able to get to grips with the catastrophic consequences that are already emerging. Only a politically united mankind has a chance of preserving and protecting its habitat for the future. This also applies to coping with pandemics, technological disasters and natural catastrophes, including defence against the threat of asteroid impacts.
We need the world union because nation states alone are not in a position to build a global system of equitable solidarity that enables mankind to overcome national egoisms and realise global justice and equality of opportunity. Only in this way can conflicts between peoples be avoided in the long term and stable foundations for world peace be created. See my article ‘KOMPENSO’.
We need a world union because the unrestricted sovereignty of nation states means a constant threat of war. In connection with the problems to be expected in the future, there is always the danger of an all-destroying world war. Only general and complete disarmament can prevent this. For this we need a global security system under the sole responsibility of the world union. The internal security of states remains their own responsibility. The resources saved in this way are enormous and can be used immediately for the global system of solidarity-based equalisation. In this way, war will be abolished.
We need the world union because it is the surest way to help democracy win the world without violence. The democratic institutions of the world union will create a universally benevolent and enforceable world law. Disputes between individual states will no longer be settled on the battlefields, but before the courts. Human rights will no longer have to remain a non-binding general declaration, but will be part of world law. No one will have to flee their homeland because of oppression, discrimination, violence, economic hardship or hunger.
We need the world union so that mankind can continue to develop and expand into space. The technical challenges are gigantic and the political conditions will require an unprecedented level of global co-operation. This will only be possible if the countries of the world unite to form a federal world union and do not hinder each other with unresolved problems and conflicts.
We need the world union to offer people - especially young people - a positive vision of the future that goes beyond today. The children who will be born in the next 10 to 15 years are the generation that will be massively confronted with the problems of the future. They will bear the main burden of leading mankind into a better future. Today we have the task of doing the urgently needed groundwork. So that we do not fail.
Don't be unsettled by the current authoritarian, anti-democratic and nationalist tendencies. They should not be trivialised, but they are remnants of a bygone era. They have no place in the future. Don't let the current problems stop you. Of course, we should not close our eyes to them and remain inactive, but any action or protest has no prospects if there is no clear, positive vision behind it. Unfortunately, many active people who are working for a better world still lack this vision.
Here is the offer: Support the creation of a new world organisation, the United Mankind Organisation! Become a member of the United Mankind! The United Nations and the United Mankind Organisation can jointly found the World Union.
